Perfect Maxis For Summer

Well after a few days of gorgeous weather we’re starting to believe that spring has finally arrived. As such it’s about time we had a rifle through our wardrobes and dug out some summery looks. Once again the maxi dress is set to be a major trend. They couldn’t be better for summer, just add sandals in the day or heels at night!

These are our favourite maxi dresses for 2011

This gorgeous blue maxi dress from the Arlene Phillips fashion collection is perfect for getting the look for quite a few trends at once! Floral print and blue shades are both set to be popular this season.  Just add these comfortable wide fitting gladiator sandals from Isabella Cole for perfect spring style.

If your arms are one of your less favourite body parts, then you should opt for a maxi with a bit of a sleeve. This animal print maxi is just the thing, natural tones are totally on trend this season! You can even dress this look up with the addition of some high heeled wedge sandals.  These Grazia sandals are an E width fitting so they’re fabulously comfortable too!

So those are a couple of our favourite maxi dresses for spring, which is your favourite and how will you wear the maxi dress trend?

Fresh sea inspired colours are teamed with curve friendly, comfortable styles that will show off your best bits, and hide those problem areas.

Take this gorgeous Arlene Phillips button detail tunic for example. It’s the perfect length for wearing with trousers, slim leg jeans or leggings. It skims your shape without clinging and features a flattering scoop neck.  Plus the pale blue shade is going to be seriously popular this season!

If you prefer more muted tones then opt for this stylish Arlene Phillips embellished jersey top in navy.

The embellishment is just enough to add curves if you’re lacking, but won’t make you look top heavy thanks to the scoop neckline. Perfect for spring/ summer nights out when you fancy a bit of sparkle.

Accessorize to perfection

If there’s one thing we love at Marisota it’s customising. With the frugal climate this year accessories are becoming the new must have items for the season. So if you’re feeling the pinch then some stylish new extras are the perfect way to bring an old outfit straight into 2011.  We’re here to help you discover which accessories will make the biggest change, and what to go for to be on trend!

  1. Structural Changes
Any accessory that makes a dramatic difference to your look MUST have a structural effect. This means it must either change the shape of an outfit, or change an aspect of it for example neckline or sleeves.
Good examples of this kind of accessory include waist cinching belts and oversized necklaces.
This coral coloured belt from Fiorelli is the ideal waist cincher for spring. It’s in this season’s colour palette, features a stylish buckle detail and comes in a whole range of sizes and colours!
Similarly this bright Joe Browns chunky necklace is the ideal choice to brighten up your spring look! The different shades of blue really add a flash of colour, making it ideal for updating any drab and dreary winter looks.
2. Accessories By Trend
Buying accessories that are “in” this season will attract attention, the perfect way to update a classic outfit for the new year.  Chunky bangles are totally in this season, and this 2 pack of bangles features both gold and silver detailing.
3. Fashion Forward Footwear
If in doubt turn to shoes, they’re an inexpensive way to update numerous outfits at once. We’ll be posting about this season’s shoe trends next week… so keep an eye out!

Get In The Garden – Plus Size Spring/Summer Fashion From Marisota

Prepare yourself for spring and summer with my garden party recommendations

Hi,

My name’s Jenny and I’m one of the Marisota girls (click here for more info about me!) , I love all things fashion (particularly shoes – and even more particularly stylish wide fitting ones). I’m here to give you a quick update on one of this season’s hottest trends. With spring and summer well on their way we need to prepare for the months of garden parties, barbeques and drinks on the patio. So these are a few of my quick tips for dressing to impress this season

These stylish spot hem pedal pushers are a perfect choice for spring; the ¾ leg is flattering whilst the spot hem is a great element of detail – a must this season. These would look particularly fabulous with this white cutwork gypsy top from Joanna Hope. It’s floaty and feminine but comfortable at the same time. The ¾ length sleeves are effortlessly flattering and perfect for if you burn easily, or to keep off the chill as the evening draws to a close.

Another fantastic option is this stylish sequin trim print skirt from Joanna Hope, wear it with one of Marisota’s simple camis (and a waist belt if you prefer) to get a simple, stylish look.

If you want to get the full on summer feeling then this maxi dress is ideal. It’s comfortable, flattering and comes in a choice of lengths so you’ll get your perfect look and fit!

Now as you know (or you will soon) shoes are my weakness, so where would my post be without some recommendations!

These Caryn Franklin gladiator wedges are some of my absolute favourites, these wedges are comfortable but still have a heel and have strap detail, plus they come in a variety of widths!

If you favour a flatter style then these Emotion sandals are perfect. They’re just strappy enough for smart occasions but are still great for regular wear, plus with their great range of sizes and widths you know you’ll be exquisitely comfortable.

Let me know what you think of my choices, or if there’s anything else you want to know. (PS. the mystery blogger last week was me!)

Bye for now

Jenny
