Snow joke… I’ve got no snow clothes!

I can’t believe the chaos the snow is causing. They’ve sent Joanne home from school… and I’ve had patients cancelling on me left right and centre! So I’ve decided to spend some time with Jo and get out in the snow. I’ve got virtually no sensible clothes for the this kind of weather though. I was just thinking about putting together a nice new wardrobe for spring when this blizzard hits!

A little ensemble from the Marisota plus size fashion collection like this one would be perfect:

As it is I’ll just stick with my old jeans and coat for today… but maybe I’ll get prepared for next time the snow comes bucketing down!

Ah well - I don’t suppose it’ll matter today as the only eligible batchellor I’m likely to meet in the back garden is a snowman!

Fashion fur real or fashion faux pas?

It’s well known that fashion, like so many things, goes round in cycles. So it’s no big surprise that’s there’s currently a resurgence for all things fur – especially considering this freezing cold snap we’re in the middle of.

The debate rages on and on about whether you should go ‘fur’ the real thing (sorry!) or choose the more animal friendly option, faux-fur. There are some impassioned arguments on both sides of the fence and to be honest, I can see where both sides are coming from. I’m not a vegetarian and I wear leather shoes and boots… but even so I don’t think I would buy new real fur (even if I could afford it!)

You can get some pretty gorgeous faux-fur pieces that feel just as luxurious as the real thing.

I love the glamour of this faux-fur trimmed cardigan from Marisota. The fur trim is detachable depending on how dressy you want to be. (Glamour all the way for me!)

And this faux fur-trimmed suede coat from plus size fashion designer Anna Scholz looks so cosy in a decadent kind of way.  Just the thing for this cold weather we’re having too. The blue colour is fun but I always say you can’t go wrong with black.

What do you think?

Curvy women to thank for big brains!

Yes, that’s right it seems that the big and well-developed human brain could only evolve into being thanks to the development woman’s broad child-bearing hips. Without those curves we could never have evolved much past the level of chimpanzees. Or looking at it the other way round, women’s curvy figures came about for the good of the human race. Read the full story here.

I’ve not actully seen any evidence yet that curvy women have bigger brains themselves, but I’ve sure that conclusion is just around the corner.

One woman who loves to celebrate the curvy woman’s shape is Caryn Franklin. Her designer plus size clothing collection at Marisota was created to work with a woman’s curves - not hide them.

Check out these sexy Caryn Franklin plus size dresses and plus size coat from Marisota - now that’s what I call curves!

Brrring out the winter coats!

There’s a real nip in the air at the minute, autumn is well and truly here. I don’t mind one bit, it gives me a great excuse to wear my lovely new plus size coat from Marisota. Honestly, the coats and jackets in the autumn winter Marisota collection are just gorgeous, the plus size coat choice is amazing. My daughter and I love going for a walk on a cold, bright day. All wrapped up in my well-fitting stylish coat, she says I do her proud I look so good, and me a size 16! There’s a lovely local pub on our walk and I love to drop in for a quick drink before braving the cold in my coat again.

I love the different coats that are in style right now, the sash jacket and the classic mac and wool coats are huge this season. It’s fabulous and all so cosy. Enjoy the winter weather, I know I will!
