Interview with Anna Scholz, plus size fashion goddess!

The Irish Independent had an interview with one of my favourite plus size fashion designers, Anna Scholz.

Here are some of the things she had to say:

“I have been in business for 12 years and I thought, by now, at least, I would have had a lot more competition. But it is a little bit more difficult and challenging than doing straight sizes, because you can’t just get skinny models to walk down a catwalk and make anything look beautiful. A lot of people don’t even have big women on their radar. They don’t think of them as being anything to do with fashion. They think it’s an older customer who doesn’t go out, who doesn’t enjoy life,”

“People need to learn how to experiment with their shape a bit more. It’s about enjoying fashion. For everyone to aspire to be a blonde, thin thing is just boring.”

It is true though, you would think that there would be more plus size fashion designers out there – but no!

Take a look at Anna Scholz’s plus size fashion collection at Marisota. her vibrant designs really show a lust for life:

Really looking forward to seeing the brand new Anna Scholz collection at Marisota when it launches next month!

Fashion fur real or fashion faux pas?

It’s well known that fashion, like so many things, goes round in cycles. So it’s no big surprise that’s there’s currently a resurgence for all things fur – especially considering this freezing cold snap we’re in the middle of.

The debate rages on and on about whether you should go ‘fur’ the real thing (sorry!) or choose the more animal friendly option, faux-fur. There are some impassioned arguments on both sides of the fence and to be honest, I can see where both sides are coming from. I’m not a vegetarian and I wear leather shoes and boots… but even so I don’t think I would buy new real fur (even if I could afford it!)

You can get some pretty gorgeous faux-fur pieces that feel just as luxurious as the real thing.

I love the glamour of this faux-fur trimmed cardigan from Marisota. The fur trim is detachable depending on how dressy you want to be. (Glamour all the way for me!)

And this faux fur-trimmed suede coat from plus size fashion designer Anna Scholz looks so cosy in a decadent kind of way.  Just the thing for this cold weather we’re having too. The blue colour is fun but I always say you can’t go wrong with black.

What do you think?

Look sexy in sequins this Christmas

I just love sequins… ever since I was a little girl and you used to stick them on things in school (like calendars and Mother’s Day cards). And what could be more glittery and glamorous for Christmas than a sparkling sequin top? If you don’t want to wear a dress or think you won’t get enough wear out of it then a glitzy top is a great idea. You can team it with black trousers or a skirt, or layer it in different ways to get several looks from one piece.

Marisota has a dazzling array of plus size sequin tops, skirts and jackets to choose from which have as much festive cheer as any plus size party dress.

I love this black sequinned mesh top from plus size designer Anna Scholz at Marisota:

This black plus size sequin print top looks so glamorous yet would be comfy to wear in soft stretch jersey:

You could go for a plus size black sequin top and matching skirt, or team one of the pieces with something a little plainer, depending on how dressy you wanted to go:

This black plus size sequin tunic top has a very trendy feel, with great big sequins:

Or you could add some Christmas sparkle to any plain black outfit with this gorgeous plus size sequin jacket:

Let’s hear it for the curves – and plus size diva Adele

.

It seems the tide is turning somewhat on the super skinny phenomenon – something I’m only too glad to hear. I’m very proud of my plus size figure thank-you very much!

Lots of gorgeous ladies have been speaking out about how they love their curves. Take the stunning Scarlett Johansson:

“There are a lot of actors around Hollywood who are just too thin for my taste.”

“I don’t understand this obsession for being stick-thin. I could never be like that – it’s just not my body shape.”

“I would never want to lose my curves, because curves are what make women look like women. They are what make you sexy.”

Then there’s Jodie Kidd, who in my opinion looks much better now she’s not so model skinny. With all that exercise she’s doing on Strictly Come Dancing she’s obviously much fitter and healthier now too. And it’s not just the ladies that love it – it’s their other halves too!

“He absolutely loved my new cleavage”, she said of her partner Thomas George. “I’d never seen my boobs like that. And I don’t think he had either.”

And let’s not forget everyone’s favourite songstress Adele. I love the way she’s sticking to her plus size shape.

“I’m really mouthy about not having the Hollywood look. Everyone asks me ‘Why don’t you feel pressured to get the Hollywood look?’ and I’m like, ‘Because I don’t',” she told Heat.”I mean, I quite like my eyes and my lips. I don’t like my double chin or my gut, but I don’t not like them enough to do something about it.”

That’s the right attitude if you ask me. If you are happy and healthy – and in Adele’s case beautiful to boot then what’s the problem? Life’s too short! Especially when there’s fab fashionable plus size clothes out there to suit you like at Marisota. Marisota’s plus size clothes are made to work with your curves.

I can see Adele in one of these stunning plus size tunic tops from Anna Scholz at Marisota:

Bold and bright like her big and bubbly personality – and so flattering for plus size women.

What to wear for work and how to catch the eye of a dishy dance instructor with fab plus size fashion

I’ve noticed I’ve been shopping an awful lot more since my divorce. It’s amazing how many wonderful styles there are in plus sizes, dresses, trousers, wide leg jeans… everything. Perfect for my salsa dancing, it’s two nights a week and is just my favourite hobby (and not because of Rico the dishy instructor… honest).

I know you’re probably supposed to dance in a mini skirt or something, but I’m too modest for that so I like to mix it up a bit. Last week I wore a wonderful pair of stretch fabric trousers from the Anna Sholz collection at Marisota. They’re so comfy and have a gorgeous bit of jewel trim by the pockets to add some sparkle. A cute little shrug finishes the outfit off nicely, I wonder if Rico has noticed…
